HCC Zoo Grand Opening!

The Year Two and Three students have been busy this term investigating the various life cycles, habitats and other relevant classification criterion about fish, mammals, amphibians, birds, and reptiles. During LIFE Week they ventured to Perth Zoo to gather more information that would assist in the development of their own fictitious animal and suitable enclosure.

The students spent time in the Art room and Year 3 room using air-drying clay and other construction materials to design their creation. The students have been exploring report writing in English and used this acquired knowledge to construct an information report on their animal, which was loaded onto the HCC Zoo website designed by Miss Henderson. Individual QR codes were generated and displayed (just like at Perth Zoo) next to the enclosures situated in Tui DaVinci. Parents, Pre-Primary and Year 1 visited HCC Zoo and gave lots of feedback. HCC Zoo will stay open until the end of Winter Term. We hope to see you visit soon!

The children are now developing their oral language skills, planning an oral presentation on their animal which will be delivered to the class next week. We are looking forward to learning more about each others' animals.
