Year 7 Transition Week

Last week, our new Year 7's enjoyed a week of Middle School Transition before they became official Year 7's today. The week was packed full of fun and learning. They had lots of time to get to know their iPad as we set up their home screens and began learning how to use some of the apps they will be using in lessons this year. They had plenty of time to explore the College in the amazing race and meet new friends and old ones in their House Tutor Group time. They had a subject immersion in each learning area to reduce some of the stress and pressure around week 2. These all seemed to go very well.

The group as a whole picked up the iPad very swiftly and I was extremely impressed with their willingness to ask questions but also, to get on with the task at hand. Well done to our new Year Sevens. There is obviously lots more to learn and we hope that as they grow at Holy Cross College, they will move forward in the fabulous way they have started.

Some things to note for parents

1.  All students are now using the HW app - they have been asked to use this every time they record HW and it would be fantastic if parents could have a look at this now and then. The icon for this is located in the photo below.

2.  Year 7 students are all working from a HW timetable which schedules when subjects give HW. All students have a copy of this.

3.  A note for your diary is Wednesday February 24 - the Middle School Information Evening and BBQ. This will be a great opportunity to meet staff and attend some further learning around literacy, numeracy and become even more iPad savvy!

A few little snaps from the week
