Year 11s investigate the Geography of Fire in the Perth Hills

The year 11 Geography ATAR group visited the Perth Hills Discovery centre in order to carry out fieldwork on the topic of the Geography of Fire.
The fieldwork involved data collection at the site of a prescribed burn and the site of a wildfire.
We were able to tour around Parkerville and Stoneville to gain a better understanding of how topography and weather conditions impact upon fire conditions.
Our guide for the day was a volunteer firefighter, so some of the students had a chance to experience the kit and equipment they use while fighting a fire. Upon our arrival back at school, students were able to write up their findings in the form of a Geographical report.
