Fine Motor Skill Development in Pre-Primary

In Pre-Primary, we continue to consolidate our fine motor skills, using the small muscles of the hands. In this face collage the children were encouraged to use various fine motor skills such as: cutting, bending, snipping, scrunching and gluing in order to create different textures. These face collages were the stimulus for creative expression and discussion, as the children identified their personal characteristics and compared themselves to others. Most students identified the same colours or shapes but occasionally a student would notice more significant qualities other than colour or shape, such as: “we both have spiky hair”.
