State Orienteering Championships

On Wednesday a group of Holy Cross Year 9 students along with 1000 other primary and secondary students, participated in the All Schools State Orienteering Championships. Most of the girls had a trying time locating all of their markers as the contours on their maps couldn't really prepare them for the steepness of the course.  Not only was this quite a hilly course but they needed to navigate Fred Jacoby reserve in chilly conditions and light rain. The course was no match for Hannah Schnell who placed second in her age group and should be offered a place to compete for Western Australia at the Nationals  later this year. Chloe Andrews and Paige Albuino also had a great pair result coming in at 23.  Overall the weather didn’t dampen the girls experience, they had a great day out and about with all recommending orienteering to any student willing to simply get outdoors.
