Senior Drama Students Get A Taste of Sorrento

Rehearsals are underway for the 2019 Senior Class Drama Play, 'Hotel Sorrento'. A distinctly Australian story set in the coastal town of Sorrento on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, it explores the themes of love, loss and the strength of family and home. Students in Years 11 and 12 Drama have taken on roles which are challenging and are tackling themes which not only help them build their confidence in character development but have them questioning the true meaning of Australian identity.

This week, students met with Mrs Andrews and Mrs Amatulli to start developing their ideas for what the set will look like and costuming their characters. Being a Senior play, all elements of the performance will be driven by the students. A key part of the set is that of the iconic Sorrento pier, which is being re-created by our General Building and Construction students under the supervision of Mr Williams. We can't wait to see how this comes together.

With a busy few weeks ahead, we can't wait to delve deeper into Sorrento and are looking forward to the performances in Week 9 of Autumn Term.

The official poster for the play, designed by Year 12 student Mya Ubalde will be revealed next week!
