Our four inter-relationship leaders: Ashlea Jordan, Tadiwanashe Chikwama, Samantha Cosmas and Kyle Braganza joined with other schools in Perth on Shrove Tuesday for an enlightening, uplifting and informative workshop on the valuable work done by Caritas around the globe.  A traditional smoking ceremony was followed by a discussion what social justice really means, with some great musical interludes provided by DJ ‘s Ruby and Daniel.  Anita Finneran, Justice Educator for Western Australia, highlighted to students the important of creating awareness on social justice issues. She used a young Nepalese woman Janaki as an example of how Caritas acknowledges the dignity and right of every human being to a decent  income, a job, and respect from a community. Our leaders then enjoyed some delicious pancakes for a Shrove Tuesday morning tea. A Eucharistic celebration by Archbishop Timothy Costello’s exhorted all students to accept social justice in its entirety, not just a word conveying an idea, but strong challenge, task and invitation to all of us to live as one global family: A meaningful takeaway for our inter-relationship leaders.
