Catholic Performing Arts Week 4- HCC Gets Jazzy

After last week's highly successful week featuring Christian Drama, Christian Dance, Soloists and our Contemporary Bands, the Festival continued this week with the HCC Jazz Ensemble taking centre stage. The small combo of Year 7-12 students travelled to Sacred Heart College in Sorrento on Thursday night to perform classic tunes 'Watermelon Man' and 'Sweet Home Chicago' along with a jazzed up arrangement of 'Panic Station' by Muse.

The band held their own against some top notch ensembles from schools such as Aquinas, La Salle and Irene McCormack and particular mention to our two Year 7 Woodwind players Reece Wingett (Clarinet) and Declan Watts (Flute) for whom it was their first performance. We look forward to seeing the development of the Jazz Ensemble and thank Mr Jasper Miller and Mr Dario Jiritano for their time working with the ensemble.
