Junior School Athletics Carnival 2017

Thursday October 12 saw our Junior School, from Kindy to Year 6, compete in the 2017 Junior School Inter-House Athletics Carnival. After some delays on the event due to bad weather earlier in the year, we nervously watched the forecasts with our fingers tightly crossed. In the end we were gifted perfect conditions and the student’s enthusiasm for the day matched these conditions.

This year, our format saw Sprint Races, Middle Distance Races, Team Games, Leaderball, Turbo Javelin, Shot Put and the newly designed Grand Relay. The level of effort and House Spirit on display from the students was absolutely superb and as the day progressed we also observed some fantastic individual performances. These performances were accumulated across the day and in Year 3-6, the Champion and Runners Up were awarded for Boys and Girls in each Year Group.

The families of the students supported the event in excellent numbers and spirit and this made for a brilliant atmosphere.

At the conclusion of the carnival the leaderboard, which had been tight throughout the day, read as follows;

McCormack 1725
Salvado        1672
Frayne          1322
Ozanam        1295

As part of our new affiliation with the CPSSA, students from Year 3-6 will be selected to represent the College in the Inter School Athletics Carnival on the 27th October. This is an exciting development for our College and we look forward to the challenge of competing against the other Catholic Primary Schools.

Thanks to Physical Education team and all of the Junior School staff for their hard work in making the day run smoothly and sucessfully.

We look forward to conitnuing to grow our Carnival in 2018.
