Try-A-Trade (Bricklaying)

A group of Year 10 boys had the opportunity to spend two days experiencing bricklaying as a possible trade during the last semester.  It was an excellent opportunity for them to learn some of the basic skills and discipline required in the workplace.

Ian Fitzgerald from the Australian Brick and Blocklaying Training Foundation was impressed by the level of skill shown by the students and their willingness to listen and accept advice.

An opportunity will occur early in 2017 for other students in Years 10-12 to experience this trade. In particular, girls are encouraged to apply as they are under-represented in this trade in the workplace.
