Junior School Update

Pre-Kindergarten

Welcome back to the final term for the year. The children had a wonderful first day back, sharing excitement about their holidays, catching up with friends and exploring the various learning environments.

This term will see us learning a bit about Australia. The children will be exposed to the Aboriginal Culture, the Australian and Aboriginal flags, things people enjoy doing in terms of lifestyle in Australia and Australian animals. If you have anything that you think your child might like to bring in to show regarding this topic that would be wonderful.

Just a reminder to keep checking the school website regularly, as well as Parent Coneqt in order to remain informed as to what events are happening, important dates, etc. If you need any assistance with accessing any of these, please let me know and I will be happy to help.

Our parent roster is once again displayed on the door. If you are able to give some of your time to cut up fruit, make playdough or spend a morning in class that would be very appreciated. I look forward to a wonderful term ahead.

Pre-Primary

Welcome back to the start of a brand new term. I trust that you have enjoyed a restful past two weeks and are ready to start a full and exciting Summer Term.
The students shared their holidays experiences, then wrote a recount and added illustrations. They have only built on their word awareness by creating words with individual letters and are writing sentences independently with experimental punctuation. Parents are encouraged to come and look at the students impressive recount writing.
Lets continue to sparkle and shine in our learning achievements this term!

Year 3

This term the Year Threes have hit the ground running with setting goals for the term, as well as learning about actions that can be classified as bucket filling or bucket dipping. We all have an imaginary bucket that we carry around with us and each interaction we have can either fill our bucket or dip into our bucket. We are decorating our buckets and will create a class display of them so that we can fill other people’s buckets when they do something nice for us.
We also played a game called two truths and a lie to share our holiday news in a more interesting way. Students had to try and guess the lie amongst the truths their peers told them about their holiday adventures.

We have started our unit of work on poetry and have read some of Rahl Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. We are looking forward to presenting a poem we are learning about dogs with bad manners, in our assembly next week.

In Mathematics, we have been learning about division through hands on activities. Students have been competing against their partner to get a row of four equations in a line by rolling dice and applying strategy.

Our Big Ideas question for the term is, “What’s the value of our neighbours?” Students will identify and learn about our neighbouring countries, including the value we both offer and receive from these countries.
