Term 4 in Big Ideas is off to an Egg-stremely Egg-citing Egg-stravaganza!

The students in Year 7 are playing their very own Hunger Games in Big Ideas. We launched our new project, with the Big Question, 'Are the Odds Ever in Your Favour?'' in week one.

Students watched a small extract from the Hunger Games film, and then were pulled out of a hat to be selected for a district. We have fifteen districts, each with their own wealth, knowledge or expertise. The students then students worked in their groups to design a logo for their district. These are now on display in the LRC, our Big Ideas room.

In week two, students had to save their egg in the egg saver challenge. However, in the Hunger Games all districts are not equal. The students had to trade resources and equipment to get what they needed to make an egg carrier, that would allow their egg to survive a drop from a first floor balcony. Unfortunately, only six groups were successful.

In week three, the students were challenged to create an outfit that represented the true character of their district. We had some very imaginative creations, but in the end, the fishing district was the victor.
