The Junior School Summer Term comes to a close

Kindergarten H

Even though our term has been drawing closer, it has been pleasing to see that the Kindergarten children have still been putting in their best efforts to concentrate in class and show kindness to all of their friends.

Our Ff week saw lots of fun with Mr McKern as he helped us to plant some flowers in our Kindergarten area. We put the flowers in bigger pots, filled in the dirt and gave them LOTS of water to drink. We think our Kindergarten area now looks fantastic.

We were super excited this week when we arrived at school to find that there were giant pink footprints going into our classroom. The magnifying glasses were out and there was a great deal of speculation as to who may have created the prints. We were treated to an amazing surprise when we discovered it was the Easter Bunny. We gave the Easter Bunny lots of cuddles and high-fives and in return we all received a yummy Easter egg.

Thank you to all the parents for your wonderful support this term. I wish you all a happy and holy Easter.

Year One

As the school holidays are fast approaching the learning has not stopped in Year One!
During the fortnight we have continued to investigate measurement and capacity has been our focus. The students have loved using the balancing beams to investigate the weight of different objects. The students identified the heaviest and lightest objects using photos and Book Creator. They counted how many unifix cubes or popsticks equalled a particular object. For example, Levi found out that a glue stick weighed the same as 18 unifix cubes. Their measurement learning has been displayed through a book using the app Book Creator.
Staying in the learning area of Mathematics, we have created Number Think Boards, to show our understanding of different numbers. The students created number stories, sentences and pictures to show their knowledge of their number.

During Health we have described changes in our physical appearance now compared to when they were younger. The children used the app PicCollage to identify what is the same and what is different about them now compared to when they were younger.

We are looking forward to continuing our fabulous learning throughout Autumn Term. Miss Behiels wishes you all a safe and enjoyable holiday and hopes everyone enjoys spending time with their families during Easter.

Year Three

The last week of Summer Term has been a very exciting one in Year 3! We finished our Big Ideas creations – 'Ways we can celebrate success in our community'. They are on display in the Da Vinci space and well worth a look. We also had our Learning Conversations which enabled us to celebrate our learning this Term and set some goals for Autumn Term .

This week we also spent some time working with the Pre-Primary class on some Easter activities. The children enjoyed making chocolate, painting, creating Easter cards, baskets and headbands. It was a good opportunity for us to practice our Leadership skills and show service to others, just like Fredric Ozanam. We are looking forward to our two week break and coming back refreshed and full of energy for another term of exciting learning experiences.
