Year 12 Geographers explore Perth.

Today, the Year 12 ATAR Geography students completed primary data collection through fieldwork in and around Perth. They are studying various challenges facing Perth, including transport, congestion and urban sprawl.

The day started with a passenger count at Bassendean station, before exploring how Urban Sprawl is being addressed through in-fill in Maylands.

We then had a meeting with a team of planners working on Metronet, and students were able to complete a mapping activity, explaining their preferred transport method and route to link Ellenbrook with Perth. The meeting was extremely interesting, as the planners explained all of the factors that they have to take into account.

We continued to explore Perth by completing a case study of Subiaco, which is a transit oriented development.

After lunch back in the CBD, students explored St George's Terrace and Elizabeth Quay before making their way home.
