Year 8 Big Ideas: How Can We Re-Energise The Past?

It was an energetic start to Big Ideas for the Year Eight Students in Week 1 of Winter Term! They were introduced to the various forms of energy through an 'Energy Circus,' and competed in 'Energy Bingo,'  where they had to identify the types of energy presented to them in order to qualify to begin construcing their Rube-Goldberg machines. The students had been diligently collecting all sorts of items from around their homes, and used them to create their own curcuit of cause and effect. There were varying degrees of success with the students' creations, but a great deal of fun was had by all.

The Year Eights have a busy term ahead - following their Camino Salvado walk in Week 2, they will take turns attending an excursion at the Foothills Sustainabilty Centre in Wattle Grove. They will also attend a selection of workshops at school that will provide them with the knowledge and skills required to complete their major Big Ideas task during LIFE week in Week 6. So far, the students have demonstrated both aptitude and interest in the energy-based challenges they have been given, and we are sure that this has been an exciting start to a very successful term in Year Eight Big Ideas!
