LifeLink Sleep Out

Every year, more than 31 000 Western Australians are helped by a LifeLink supported agency which collectively deliver $47 million in welfare services throughout WA!

Our Holy Cross College sleep out was once again a resounding success. Students arrived on Thursday 15 August at 6pm and the evening began. This year we were prepared for rain and whilst not being flooded, we definitely had to run for cover at several points during the evening.

Year 11 and Mrs Brown getting ready to serve their soup
The Year 11’s did a fantastic job running the soup kitchen and there were many favourable comments from both staff and students about the quality of the evening meal.

Showing talent to fund a box!
This year students had to busk for their box! This saw some great talent emerging.
Again, some very interesting structures emerged when it was time to build and prepare shelters. We certainly have some talented architects and builders in the making.

One of the things that I love about the Sleep Out, is the way our students throw themselves into the challenge of raising funds for those in need and the way that they reflect on the reasons for this. This year was no exception.
Busking for a box

Some of the reflections we heard around candle light in the grounds of our under cover area were thought provoking and once again showed me the real ‘spirit of Holy Cross’.   I would like to thank the students and staff of Holy Cross for their amazing support of such a great cause.

Next week, we will we welcome the Arch Bishop to Holy Cross to present us with the Life Link Spirit Award for last years effort at the sleep out. We hope to be able to show the Arch Bishop some of our diary room footage this year also as the spirit of our College continues to grow.

This year we have raised over $5000. Well done Holy Cross. You are really making a difference.
