Reconciliation Update

Last weekend eighty-two candidates enroled in the Sacrament of Reconciliation through St Helena's of the Holy Cross Parish. Seventeen of these children are students at Holy Cross College, in Year's 3-7. It was a wonderful occasion with the children committing to furthering their faith journey.

Today a letter went home from the parish outlining the next step in this Sacramental journey - the Parent Child Interactive Workshop. This is being held on Wednesday 15 March in San Salvador (Learning Resource Centre). There are two time slots to chose from, 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Each session will run for approximately one hour. Please ensure you return the form, with your preference by Wednesday, 8 March.

If you have any questions or require further clarification please contact the Parish Sacramental Coordinator, Claire Merry via email clairemerry@gmail.com

Year 11 Religion and Life

This week the Year 11 Religion and Life ATAR students started exploring current issues in society. Specifically the Year 11's are investigating the major global issue of Asylum Seekers and Refugees. This is a significant issue throughout the world and the Year 11's are learning about the causes, and the overall extent for which this issue is impacting our world.

Religion and Life is a great course that allows the students to wrestle with world issues in an objective sense and learn to gain an informed position on these issues. Over the coming weeks the Year 11's will come to understand the different responses to this issue throughout society including that of the Catholic Church.

Here is a sample of some of the information the students have been gathering.

Harmony Day 2017

Dear Students and Parents,

Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.

To celebrate this, the student leadership team are holding a multicultural festival at lunch time on 21 March 2017 (Tuesday Week 8).

A selection of dishes from cultures around the world will be on sale at the Cafe at lunch time. If you are able to bring in a dish to help out on the day, you will receive a coupon for a free plate of food which will be distributed in HTG/Classroom.

Students will have the opportunity to pre-order a pass for the buffet on the permission slip handed out during class or HTG. Please note that there will be limited passes available to purchase on the day. The cost will be $3 for junior school and $5 for the high school

Thanks Student Leadership Team
