Beams of sunlight shone
though the eucalyptus trees as the sun set on a warm clear night at Caversham
House. Ms Croswell, looking resplendent with her hair beautifully coiffed,
grabbed a twig from a nearby shrub to clear away a giant spider that was
weaving its web in the gentle breeze across the gated entry that opened to a
limestone pathway and stairs winding down to lush gardens on the banks of the
Swan River.
With life-sized statues and
overhanging trees and vines the stairway resembled the grandeur of the luxurious
gardens that surround medieval castles in Europe. The debonair young men ambled
down the stairs while the elegant young ladies took fairy-steps in their super
high-heeled shoes. Paparazzi of excited and proud parents and family members
followed to enjoy the high fashion and capture the moment to relish again and
again in the years to come.
Following pre-dinner
mocktails in the courtyard College Captains, Taya Horley and Connor Francois,
welcomed everyone to the evening with Daniella Jacobs giving thanks to God for the
sumptuous meal and friendship. The Ballroom was exquisite in its décor and
table settings with transparent blue sashes covering the chairs and sparkling
diamond jewelled centrepieces on the tables. Students were quick to queue for
official photographs before enjoying the delicious buffet and energetic
dancing. The evening was punctuated with prizing giving and birthday revelries
for Felicity Holden, who celebrated her seventeenth birthday on the night.
The 2015 Senior Ball was a
great success with students expressing their gratitude to Mrs Bond and Ms
Walmsley for their tireless work in presenting such a beautiful event. Like all
fairy tales, the evening soon came to an end as students made their way home in
the darkness of the night – to live happily ever after!
The photographer from the
West Australian Newspaper indicated that a selection of photographs would be
published in Tuesday’s paper in the coming weeks.
