Annual Celebration Evening is one
of the pinnacle events of the College year, honouring the academic achievements
of our students and acknowledging significant contributions to the life of the
College. Additionally, Annual Celebration Evening is an opportunity to showcase
students’ talents through music and dance.
The 2016 Annual Celebration Evening
was held on Thursday 27 October in the undercroft. The logistics of holding
such a large formal event in an outdoor venue is particularly challenging, but
everything came together well on the night.
The opening sequence featured a
liturgical movement based on the inspirational life of Mother Ursula Frayne as
she arrived in the Swan River Colony in 1846, 170 years ago, to open the first
secondary school in Western Australia. 2016 also marks the 200th
anniversary of the birth of Ursula Frayne. Her life story is one of courage and
faith as she faced the hardships of the early days of European settlement in
Australia.
We were honoured by the presence

We are very grateful for the
support of our many dignitaries and invited guests and congratulate all of our award
winners. Special congratulations to Stacie Braganza, who received the most prestigious
award on the night, the Romero Medal. The Romero medal is awarded to to a Year 12 student who epitomises
all that the College strives to be. During their time at the College they
have lived out the College values of Dignity, Personal Best, Connection,
Compassion, Justice, Service, Gratitude and Stewardship. Like Oscar Romero they
have been prepared to be countercultural to peer pressure. This student best
exemplifies the spirit and motto of the College to live Life to the Full’.
Congratulations also, to Jeremy
Garcia (Vocational Education Excellence Award), Jarrod Ott (Proxime Accesit)
and Joshua Radwell-Rogers (Dux) for their outstanding achievements.
