A huge thank you to all of our families who collected stickers throughout the promotion. We have managed to submit 555 completed booklets to Woolworths and are very excited about what resources the school will be able to redeem. We will keep you all updated.
Hope you are having a lovely break.

Year 5 and 6 Italian Excursion
Yesterday, the Year 5 and Year 6 students had the opportunity to participate in an Italian excursion.
The students travelled to the City on Riverside drive to Visit Lake Vasto and the Italian monument, dedicated to Italian migrants who came to Australia from one of Perth’s sister City: La Citta` di Vasto”, in Abruzzo region in the centre of Italy. Students had the opportunity to learn about the Italian migration to Western Australia.
Students also had the opportunity to learn about the Italian Culture at the Laguna Bocce Club in Dianella. The Laguna Bocce Club represents the Region of Veneto in North of Italy. The members of the Club taught the students, parents, and teachers how to play Italian Bocce. Everyone really enjoyed the challenge and the experience. It was so much fun! All the members of the Laguna Club were amazing and made us feel very welcome
After, the students enjoyed a delicious Italian home-made lunch provided by the Club!
It was a cultural and memorable experience!

Sacrament of Confirmation
Last Sunday,
over seventy candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation. This year, for
the first time, the Sacrament was split across two Masses, 11:30am and 3:00pm. This
was a joyous occasion where the candidates came together with their sponsors
and families to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Congratulations
to our five Year 6 students who received the Sacrament. The parish will
celebrate as a community on Sunday 15 October, at the 9:30am Mass. Certificates
will also be presented as part of this Thanksgiving Mass.

Performing Arts Festival Concert and Carnevale Congratulations
This week has been a particularly busy one as the 2017 Performing Arts Festival for Catholic Schools and Colleges concluded with the Festival Concert on Monday at the Perth Concert Hall and Carnevale on Thursday in the Perth Cultural Centre. Special thanks to Calvin Thiel (Year 12) who represented the College with pride at the Festival Concert as the student representative for the Shield winning 'The Story of Oscar Romero' in the Christian Drama category. This shield will be presented at next week's assembly. Secondly, congratulations to our Senior Band (John Topliss, Anthony Menegola, Owen Fisher, Riley Boyle, Pearse Topliss and Calvin Thiel) who yesterday acted as Stage Crew as well as performing three sets throughout the day at the Catholic Schools Carnevale. It was a vibrant day of Music, Dance and other cultural displays and the boys are to be commended on their performances and the manner in which they represented HCC!
Congratulations to all students who participated in the Festival over the past 8 weeks. All awards will be presented at the final assembly on Monday next week.

Senior School Transition
2017 is coming to a close for our current Year 10-12 students and the transition into 2018 classes is soon to begin.
This week, all students in Year 9-11, will receive a transition letter, accompanied by their booklist.
It's a very exciting time at Holy Cross and we hope our transitioning students are looking forward to stepping up a year.
Senior School classes will begin in Week 3 of next term, but before this exams are happening across the College.
Information coming home this week, outlines both the exam schedule for the next few weeks and includes a full outline of activities happening each day.
Any questions can be directed to myself or Mrs Pastorelli (Acting Deputy - Enrichment)

Chittering Landcare Expo
Last Wednesday, the Year 3, 4 and 5 students were very fortunate to be invited to participate in the Chittering Landcare Expo. The aim of the day was to raise student awareness and learn about land care issues. Students rotated through seven fun, interactive and educational activities. They heard from presenters from a range of environmental agencies, including Eco Fairies, Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise, Jane Goodall Foundation, Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, Perth Zoo and Wonderful Worm Waste.
The students enjoyed learning how to sort rubbish into the correct bins, decorated rocks, engaged with animal rescue animals, heard stories from volunteers on how they care for animals, but most importantly the students learned how they can make a difference in the world today.

Kindergarten
The Kindergarten children celebrated Father’s Day early with their dads, grandfathers and uncles. The night began with a sausage sizzle, drinks and games before we headed inside to put on a concert for the favourite men in our lives. After the concert, both Kindergarten classes were open for lots of fun and activities which included painting, a shaving session, construction, tie making, photo booth and paper aeroplane making to name a few. All of the children loved spending one on one time with these special men. It definitely was a night to remember! Happy Father’s Day!

Year 4
During Life Week, the Year 4 class had a visit from Olman Walley. Olman brought in a range of ancient indigenous tools, spears, boomerangs and his collection of didgeridoos.
Olman taught us traditional indigenous dance, songs, and celebrations. This was a fantastic celebration of culture. The students loved learning about the Aboriginal culture and experiencing their traditions first hand.
